The Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society has said it has commenced daily free Ramadan feeding for 2,000 persons with a view of maximising the rewards of the holy month.
The chief imam of the society, Fuad Adeyemi, disclosed this while rolling out the Ramadan activities of the society at its 19 National Unity Ramadan Lecture on Sunday in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 2022 Ramadan lecture has the theme: “Ramadan Shaping Leadership”.
Adeyemi said the theme was chosen to reflect the happenings around, adding that the issue of leadership in Nigeria could never be overemphasised.
He said, “We are here once again to unbundle our basket of activities for the holy month of Ramadan. One of the contents of the basket is the award-winning food programme.

“We will feed more than 2,000 people with a three-course meal daily. It is not a mistake that I use the word people and not fasting Muslims, because over the years, not only Muslims have been benefitting from the programme, non-Muslims are received with open hands without discrimination.”
Other than the daily feeding programme, Adeyemi said that raw food items would also be distributed to indigents, adding that on Sallah day, the society would launch another feed-the-indigent programme, noting that everybody who would be coming for the Eid would get a two-course-meal pack.
He revealed that the society would use the Ramadan to offer prayers for the nation as the 2023 general elections were approaching.
The guest lecturer, Prof Taofiq Abdul-Azeez, enjoined leaders at all levels to fear Almighty Allah, noting that if a leader was God-fearing he would be merciful to the people.
Prof Abdul-Azeez further said, “A good leader wants to know who is laughing, who is crying, who is happy, who is sad. He is conscious of the fact that Almighty Allah will ask him about the effect of his leadership on the lives of people generally.” (NAN)
