Regina Daniels and her estrange billionaire husband, Ned Nwoko
The marital crisis between Senator Ned Nwoko and his actress wife, Regina Daniels, has taken a new twist, as the Nollywood star has accused her husband of introducing her to drug use.
Regina, in a fresh statement shared online, alleged that Nwoko encouraged her to take substances, claiming it made her “more romantic” and “relaxed” in their marriage.
Her revelation comes barely 24 hours after the senator alleged that the actress needed rehabilitation over substance abuse and presented what he called toxicology reports showing traces of drugs in her system.
According to Regina, the lawmaker’s public statements were part of an attempt to discredit her and divert attention from the alleged abuse she suffered in the marriage.
“He told me himself that the drugs would help me relax and become more affectionate,” she alleged. “Now he’s turning around to make it look like I have a problem. All I wanted was peace in my home.”
She further denied Nwoko’s claims that she was rushed to the hospital several times due to drug overdose, insisting that the lawmaker often exaggerated issues to manipulate public sympathy.

“I never collapsed from any drug. Yes, I went through emotional breakdowns, but it was because of the physical and psychological abuse I faced. He knows the truth,” she added.
The actress also accused her husband of isolating her from her family and using his influence to suppress her voice.
“He wants to control everything — what I do, who I talk to, even what I post on social media. That’s not marriage; that’s prison,” she said.
Meanwhile, social media users have continued to react to the unfolding drama, with many calling for privacy and mental health support for both parties.
Nwoko had earlier told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that he was committed to helping Regina recover through rehabilitation, alleging that her behaviour had become violent and erratic due to drug use.
He also accused the actress’s siblings and friends of influencing her negatively and sabotaging her treatment process.
The couple, who share two children, have been in the news for weeks following public allegations of abuse and counterclaims of substance addiction.
Observers say the situation highlights growing concerns about substance use, mental health, and domestic crisis among celebrity couples in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
