Reno Omokri physically assaulted me, says ex-wife

The estranged ex-wife of Reno Omokri, former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, has described him as a domestic abuser who subjected her to frequent domestic abuse.

In a statement on Instagram on Sunday, Tuokpe alleged that her marriage with Omokri crashed because he was physically violent towards her.

She made the revelation while advising women in domestic violent marriages to leave their abusive spouse.

“No woman should ever tolerate abuse in marriage, regardless of how infrequent it might be,” she said.

“We often make excuses like wanting to maintain a complete family or staying for the sake of the children, but the truth is, your children deserve better,” she added.

Describing her ex-husband as overly controlling and intimidating, she lamented that on several occasions, he left her in pain and with swollen jaws.

Tuokpe said, “After the first instance of violence, which left me with a swollen jaw and weeks of pain, I made excuses, thinking I must have provoked the anger.”

She also added that he physically assaulted her in the presence of their daughter.

“I even had to endure seeing my daughter witness another slap, and there was the morning I woke up to find blood on my pillow from a ruptured eardrum you (Omokri) caused,” she said.

“The final straw was when you assaulted me again, leading me to involve the police,” she added.

Berating the social media influencer who has since moved on and is “happily married,” his former wife mentioned that the self-acclaimed table shaker wanted controlling her at all times.

“Now you claim to be happily married to a woman who doesn’t quarrel. Good luck to her, because you always wanted someone you could control and intimidate.

“I was never meant to be that person; I wasn’t raised to be timid,” she added.
