The lawmaker representing Okigwe North, Imo State in the House of Representatives, Princess Mariam Onuoha has offered free medical diagnosis, treatment and surgery to citizens suffering different kinds of ailments in her constituency.
Over 1,200 patients with different classes of illnesses including eye defect, hernia, high blood pressure, malaria, among others benefited from the free medical treatment.
Addressing the mammoth crowd at the flag off of the free medical outreach at Okwelle Health Centre, Onuimo, Imo State, Princess Onuoha disclosed that out of the patients registered to undergo the operation seven had been carried out successfully while others she said were waiting for their turn to go into the theatre.
Although she did not disclose the amount spent so far to embark on the free medical treatment, she said no amount could be quantified with saving life.
“I don’t want to attach cost to programmes that I have entered for my people especially if it has to do with life, I am ready to spend all I have to ensure that the common man in Okigwe has qualitative free medicare.”
Justifying the free medical services, Onuoha said as a kid, she felt the call from God to help people all around the world, who have no means to foot their medical bills having seen a closed family friend died of ailments without help.
‘I will continue to offer help to those who need medical assistance particularly in my constituency, ” she said.
