Respect Court Injunction On BEDC, CDHR Tells NERC, BPE

The Committee for Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) has urged Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) to obey a court injunction restraining taking over of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) Board.

CDHR President, Kehinde Taiga, said the appeal had become imperative in the interest of electricity customers in the affected states confused about whom to officially deal with on issues of electricity supplies in their areas.

Tiaga emphasized the need for all the parties involved to maintain status quo based on the interim court injunction, depending on the determination of a substantive suit before a competent court of jurisdiction presently hearing the case.

He recalled that the Federal High Court Abuja had recently issued an order of interim injunction restraining Fidelity Bank, its agents or privies from altering the board’s composition of BEDC pending the hearing and determination of the matter before the honorable court.
