Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State says a total of N500 million has been set aside to compensate residents affected by the Igbogbo-Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road construction in Ikorodu.
Sanwo-Olu made this known on Thursday, while on a working visit to Ikorodu Local Government Area, to see developmental progresses made so far in the area.
He said that the road construction was part of government’s efforts at ensuring that it touched the lives of the residents.
According to him, government has rehabilitated over 27 roads in Ikorodu, strengthened intermodal transportation through the waterways, and will expand Ikorodu roundabout, to open up the place.
Sanwo-Olu said that his administration would also begin works on the phase two of Itamaga, Gberigbe road, and complete the Oba Sekumade Pakodo road.
”A total of N500 million has been set aside, and you have seen some of them, 20 of them that came out and a total of 70 something that will go to Alausa and collect their cheques.

”The least we can do is to ensure that we return life back to normal for our citizens whose property have been damaged or destroyed, because of the road improvements that we are doing,” the governor said.
He commended the chairmen of Ikorodu Division for promoting the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the grassroot, through their efforts at engendering dividends of democracy.
Sanwo-Olu urged them to continue to have open doors, and make sure that the populace had access to them.
He also urged them to ensure that their governance touched the lives of the people that had elected and given them the opportunity to serve.
”You have your local government autonomy in Lagos State, you know too well that the Lagos State Government does not touch your money in any form.
”So you have the direct access to ensure that your people see you at the grassroot, so that you can complement what we are doing at the state level.
”I am happy with you, we know that you can do it, that is why we have given you the opportunity.
”We have given you the time to do it, please go ahead and continue to carry the flag of our party and carry the shining light of our party forward,” he said.
The Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Wasiu Adesina, on behalf of the other council chairmen in the area, thanked Sanwo-Olu for embarking on development projects in the division.
Adesina said that the six chairmen in the area were working with stakeholders and security agencies for a crime-free Lagos.
”There is no denying the fact that our governor is doing very well for us in Ikorodu division, especially in the areas of infrastructural development, in line with his T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda.
”Sir, your numerous giant strides in all sectors are acknowledged and well appreciated by the good people of Ikorodu division,” he said.
