Sallah: Civil servants to receive June salaries from Monday – Sokoto gov

In a bid to ease financial burdens ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has directed the early payment of June salaries to civil servants across the state, starting Monday.

The directive, issued through a statement by the Governor’s Press Secretary, Malam Abubakar Bawa, on Saturday, applies to state and local government workers, including staff of the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) and pensioners.

Bawa noted that this is the third time the Aliyu-led administration has released salaries ahead of schedule to assist workers during festive periods.

Governor Aliyu, who is currently in Saudi Arabia performing the Hajj, explained that the early payment is aimed at helping workers prepare for the Sallah festivities, including the purchase of sacrificial animals.

“I am using this medium to remind civil servants of the popular saying, to whom much is given, much is expected. Therefore, I expect you all to be committed and dedicated to your work,” Aliyu stated.

He highlighted other efforts by his administration to support workers, such as timely salary payments, reinstatement of cash allocations to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), distribution of Sallah gifts, and the settlement of outstanding gratuities and pensions.

“I expect the civil servants to reciprocate these efforts by being punctual and responsible at their places of work,” he added.

Aliyu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to revitalising the civil service as part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery.

He also assured residents of continued efforts to deliver the dividends of democracy across the state.
