Sanwo-Olu did not sue EFCC – Lagos govt
The Lagos State Government has refuted claims that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has filed a lawsuit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged plan to arrest, detain, and prosecute him after his term in office.
According to media reports, Governor Sanwo-Olu, represented by his lawyer Darlington Ozurumba, allegedly submitted a fundamental rights enforcement suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja. The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/773/2024, was reportedly filed on June 6 and sought to prevent any such actions by the EFCC.

However, in a statement released on Tuesday night, Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro, SAN, denied these allegations, stating that the governor had neither filed the lawsuit nor instructed any lawyer to do so.
Pedro also emphasised that the EFCC is not investigating the governor, nor has there been any threat of arrest or summons involving Sanwo-Olu or any of his staff members.
The statement was released to quash the false narrative circulating in some sections of the media and to reaffirm the governor’s standing on the issue.
