Save lives, stop filming accident scenes, celebrity marshal leader advises Nigerians
National Head, Celebrity Special Marshals Unit of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Julie Chi-Nwaoha, has advised members of the public to focus on saving lives at accident scenes rather than trying to capture the situation in video with their phones.
She also urged state chapters of the Celebrity Special Marshals of the FRSC to help use their social influence to help change the attitude of Nigerians who focus on filming accident scenes without doing anything to save lives of accident victims.
Julie Chi-Nwaoha made the appeal during her recent visit to the Ogun State branch of the CSM FRSC.
Many people are in the habit of clustering around an accident spot any time there is a road crash, holding their phones to video-record the situation and send out the post.
On many occasions, such people often prevent rescue team easy access to the accident spot.
Chi-Nwaoha condemned the such attitude and urged people to learn the basic skills of rescue and saving lives.
A statement from the celebrity marshals said the group’s national head took the advantage of the occasion of attending the book launch of the Ogun State Coordinator of the Special Marshals, Hon Kehinde Soaga, to pay the courtesy visit to the Sector Commander of the FRSC in Ogun State, Corps Commander Akinwunmi Fashakin.
