The First Lady, Aisha Buhari, has asked her husband, President Muhammadu Buhari, to rescue the people of the North from unwarranted killings and continued threats to their lives.
She made the plea in a 22-second music video tweet.
She shared the clip from the newly released single “Arewa na kuka” meaning “the North weeps” by a Kannywood star, Adam Zango.
With the 22-second excerpt of the song, the First Lady posted a short commentary to add her voice to the message on her verified Facebook page.
Using a hashtag, she wrote in a corrosive Hausa “#AChechijamaa”, meaning rescue the people.
The First Lady is known to have been a critic of her husband’s administration, especially those helping to manage critical sectors where she finds faults or areas they are seen to have slacked.
The video clip she shared showed the President at different meetings with his security chiefs.
Part of the lyrics says: “In the name of God, pay attention; we seek your help; the North is weeping; our blood is being shed; our people are being killed; our property torched.”
