Say no to protest, MC Oluomo-led Concerned Lagos Citizens urges Nigerians

A group, Real Concerned Citizens of Lagos State, led by Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo), has pleaded with Nigerians especially those behind a planned mass protest to give President Bola Ahmed Tinubu more time.

He stated this during a briefing on Sunday at Oshodi, Lagos.

According to him, meaningful development comes with pains and takes time to actualise.

He said great nations had passed through their own challenging period, assuring that Nigerians would soon smile when the results of Tinubu’s administration’s policies start manifesting.

He urged youths to show understanding with the government.

Even as Akinsanya noted protest as a constitutional right of every individual, he stressed it should be carried out in a civilized manner.

“We should not forget what happened during the #EndSARS# protest. Most of the things destroyed have not been replaced today and we the masses are the ones suffering for it.

“The lives that were lost cannot be replaced again. The repercussion of the last protest which claimed many lives and led to the destruction of huge and valuable public assets in Lagos State is still very fresh in our memory.

“Also, it is viable to make known to all that some families are still mourning their lost loved ones and some are yet to recover because they lost their breadwinners,” he said.

Chairman of the Real Concerned Lagos Citizen, Olamilekan Taiwo, said, “We the Real Concerned Citizens of Lagos State cannot open our eyes and allow some destructive elements to destroy what our forefathers have built, or destroy our Lagos; which is fast becoming the most developed state in the whole of Africa.

“On this note, we dissociate ourselves from any protest at this period in all our communities. We urge all concerned residents to please shelve their plans of re-awakening a sleeping dog.

“We stand for peace, progress and unity and we shall continue to foster same in all our communities.

“If you must protest, ensure you peacefully gather either in the front of your local government council or the Lagos State Secretariat, hand over your protest demands to the public officers in charge and peacefully return home. Our properties, assets and the lives of our residents are very valuable to us and we cannot afford to lose any.

“We advise all parents to caution and guide their children, as the atmosphere is envisioned to remain calm and peaceful, while we shall continue to engage the government on the demands and requests of all concerned citizens.”

A socio-political activist and President/Founder, Eti-Osa Youths Development Initiative, Ayodeji Laurent, said, “Lagos State is our home. Lagos is our father’s land, all the assets and properties their-in are our great heritage. Therefore, not again will we allow whoever, regardless of where you are coming from or the son or daughter of who you are to destroy them.

“We urge those who want to protest to be peaceful. Do not stop others from going about their daily endeavours. Do not block the roads in the name of protest.”
