S’Court victory: Tinubu plotting to go after Peter Obi, others – Abure
National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure, said on Thursday that there was a plot orchestrated by President Bola Tinubu to go after the opposition.
Abure claimed that after Tinubu’s triumph at the Supreme Court, the LP’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and other party leaders were now under threat of being persecuted.
Abure made this assertion during a press briefing held shortly after the Supreme Court dismissed appeals by Obi and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
According to Abure, he has credible intelligence suggesting that President Tinubu had devised plans to employ security agencies to intimidate and harass him, Obi, and other key opposition figures.

Expressing deep concern, Abure stated, “It is pertinent to put on record that we have it on very good authority that the government may have marked some Labour Party’s key leaders, myself especially and our leader and presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, in particular for vilification, in order to suppress the party, suffocate our team, and our goal of a new Nigeria. The planned persecution, intimidation, suppression, and harassment of our leaders using security agencies and all other government institutions will definitely be defended.”
He went on to highlight his apprehensions about the direction the country might be heading under Tinubu’s leadership, saying, “Under Tinubu, the country might be heading in the direction of dictatorship.”
In a resolute call to action, Abure urged, “We are therefore calling on all our members and the obedient family to be vigilant and brace up for the challenges ahead. The struggle for a new Nigeria will certainly be tortuous and hard.”
