SeaKing must face trial despite Adeboye’s plea, says RCCG

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has clarified its stance on the arrest of TikToker Olumide Ogunsanwo, popularly known as Sea King303, stating that due process must be followed in his case.

Sea King was arrested by the police on charges of cyberbullying and making defamatory statements against RCCG’s General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.

During the Holy Ghost Service, Adeboye had initially called for his release, sparking discussions on the matter.

However, in a statement released on Monday by the Public Relations Unit, Office of the Principal Executive Assistant to the General Overseer, the church emphasised that it would not interfere with legal proceedings and that the law must take its course.

The statement acknowledged that initial reactions to the case might not have taken into account the full extent of the allegations against Sea King.

It stressed that, after reviewing the content of the videos in question, the church now recognised the importance of allowing the authorities to conduct their investigation without external influence.

“The Church does not intend to interfere with the ongoing police investigation, especially as there is an official complaint filed by the Concerned Christian Youth Forum on behalf of the Fathers of Faith, including Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye,” the statement read.

RCCG reaffirmed its commitment to lawful processes, stating that while Adeboye advocated love and reconciliation, the rule of law must prevail.

The church also condemned cyberbullying and defamatory attacks against spiritual leaders and institutions.

Additionally, the church urged the public to uphold respectful discourse and maintain a culture of honour, noting that respect for spiritual leaders remains a core value of the faith.

The case against Sea King remains under police investigation, with authorities expected to make a determination based on legal principles.
