Secondary school students beat teacher to coma in Kogi
In a shocking incident at Ebira Muslim Community College Okengwe (EMCCO) in Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State, some students allegedly attacked their Physics teacher, Mr. Muktar Salihu, leaving him in a coma.
The perpetrators, reportedly senior secondary school (SS2) students operating under the guise of a cult group, are accused of humiliating and assaulting Mr. Salihu as part of a broader plan to dominate the school’s operations.
The group’s alleged leader, identified as Abdulbatin, is said to be the son of a local traditional ruler, the Opokitipo of Esusu clan in Okengwe district.

Sources indicate that the attack was premeditated, aimed at intimidating school staff and asserting control over the institution. Mr. Salihu is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital, where his condition remains critical.
One of the school teachers has however called on relevant agencies to assist the school in curbing the activities of the ‘boys’
“We urge the State Ministry of Education, State Education Board, the security agencies and other relevant authorities to urgently swing into action with a view to bring the perpetuators to book, forestall future occurences and instill discipline in our schools and colleges” the teachers stated.
It was gathered that the District Police Officer in the area has waded into the matter and has ordered the traditional ruler to produce his son tomorrow unfailingly.
