Security Operatives Kill Many Bandits, Rescue 20 In Niger

Many bandits have been reportedly killed during a gun duel by a team of police, military and vigilantes in Magama Local Government Area of Niger State.

The Niger State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, made this known in a statement issued in Minna on Sunday.

Abiodun said large herds of cattle were also recovered and 20 abducted victims regained their freedom.

He said security operatives recovered one AK-47 magazine with 30 rounds of live ammunition, seven handsets and one Honda motorcycle.

Communities in Magama LGA have been under bandits’ siege for the past few days, forcing residents to flee to Kontagora, the headquarters of Kontagora Local Government Area.
