The Senate has confirmed former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai (retd) and ex-Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Gabriel Olonisakin, as non-career ambassadors.
Other former service chiefs also confirmed on Tuesday Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (retd).
President Buhari had on February 5 sent their names to the Senate to be confirmed as non-career ambassadors. Nigerians had condemned their nomination, which they considered as a plan to shield them from prosecution by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for alleged abuses committed by the military under their watch.
