The Senate has expressed anger at the continued depreciation of the naira in comparison with other currencies especially the United States dollars, which went from N658 to N710 per dollar on Wednesday, black market rate.

It has therefore invited Godwin Emefiele, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), over the situation.

On Friday, the naira fell at the parallel market to N658 per dollar amid higher dollar demand.

The decision of the upper legislative chamber followed a motion by Olubunmi Adetunmbi, the senator representing Ekiti North.
