Seven abducted as suspected Boko Haram fighters raid Chibok community
Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have abducted seven persons during an attack on Shikarkir village in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State. Those kidnapped include two daughters of a local pastor, a woman and her infant, as well as other residents.
The attack reportedly occurred around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, with community sources claiming the insurgents initially seized about 15 people. However, eight victims managed to escape, allegedly because the attackers were few in number and poorly armed.
A resident, John Yusuf, told reporters that the insurgents neither fired shots nor destroyed property during the raid.
“The insurgents did not shoot at anybody, nor destroy any property in Shikarkir during the invasion,” he said.
Another community elder, who asked not to be named, expressed grief over the persistent assaults on Chibok, describing the latest incident as heartbreaking.

“My sympathies are with the families of the seven kidnapped individuals, including the wife of Mr. Smith Shikarkir and her infant, a mother and her children, and the pastor’s two kids,” he said in a message.
He lamented that attacks have become a weekly ordeal in the region and urged authorities to act decisively.
“The silence is deafening. We must demand action from our leaders and support our troops to end this senseless violence. #ChibokDeservesPeace.”
Chibok has remained a frequent target of insurgent attacks since the infamous 2014 abduction of schoolgirls by Boko Haram, with many communities still facing recurring threats.
