Sevilla terminate Kelechi Iheanacho’s contract

Spanish La Liga football club Sevilla has confirmed the departure of Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho after both parties reached an agreement to terminate his contract by mutual consent.

In a brief statement issued on Monday, the club revealed that “an agreement has been reached with Kelechi Iheanacho to rescind his contract.” Best of luck in the future, Senior Man.

Iheanacho, also known as “Senior Man,” joined Sevilla in the summer but has battled to establish himself in the club.

The 28-year-old was brought in to bolster the attack after a free move from Leicester City, where he spent seven years and scored over 61 goals in all competitions.

Despite his Premier League and international experience, Iheanacho made only a few appearances for Sevilla and scored three goals.

The Super Eagles forward, who has 58 caps and was part of Nigeria’s roster for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, is currently a free agent.

Iheanacho originally rose to attention at Manchester City, where he graduated from their program and helped Nigeria win the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2013.

He made his senior City debut in 2015 before joining Leicester in 2017. He went on to win the FA Cup with Leicester in 2021.
