Shock over mysterious death of Lagos CID boss, DCP Olugbemi
There is confusion among the police top brass in Lagos over mystery surrounding the death of a deputy commissioner of police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Panti, Lagos, Gbolahan Olugbemi.
Olugbemi who reportedly travelled out of Lagos for the Easter celebration was found dead in his Ogbomoso apartment, Oyo State, on Monday.
His body was said to have been found dangling from the roof of his living room, suggesting that he committed suicide.
Many wondered why he would take his life in his hometown.
Olugbemi was also a former aide-de-camp to late Adebayo Alao-Akala, ex-governor of Oyo.
The senior police officer was celebrated for his role during the #EndSARS protest.
Mayegun Oluwakemi, spokesperson for the force criminal investigation department (FCID) annex, Lagos, confirmed the death of the DCP.
She however could not provide detailed information about the cause of Olugbemi’s death.
The deceased was at a time the area commander of the ‘Area J’ command of the Lekki-Ajah axis of Lagos State.
