Fire on Monday razed many shops and part of the old Savannah Bank at Singer market in Kano.
Kano State Fire Service confirmed this in a statement through its spokesman, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi.
According to him, the fire started at about 02:18am.
He said, “We received a distress call at about 02:18am from one Sai’du Hamza that there was a fire outbreak at the market which is in the Fagge Local Government Area of the state.
”On receiving the information, we quickly sent some of our personnel and fire fighting vehicles to the scene of the incident at about 02:22am to put out the fire so as not to affect other shops.”
Abdullahi said several shops were completely razed by the fire.
He also said the service was yet to ascertain the cause and the total number of shops affected.
