Six die, 13 injured in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway accident
Six people died in an accident involving two trucks and a passenger bus on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Wednesday.
Thirteen other persons were injured in the crash that occurred around 9.56am at NASFAT U-turn of the road, Mrs Florence Okpe, spokesperson for Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, confirmed to journalists.
The Traffic Enforcement Agency (TRACE) in a press release issued in Abeokuta by the Corp’s Public Relations Officer, Akinbiyi Babatunde, said it was due to excessive speed and lost of control from one of truck drivers.
The accident was reportedly caused as a result of excessive speed and lost of control on the part of the DAF truck driver with the registration number KTG 561 ZZ which rammed into a Toyota Hiace with the registration number (GGE 84 YF with 23 occupants and a MAN Diesel with no registration number.
Five occupants of the Toyota Haice bus died instantly while the doctor confirmed another person dead later.
Bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the mortuary and the injured persons taken to the hospital, it was learnt.
