Six suspected drug kingpins, cultists arrested in Akwa Ibom

In a significant victory against crime, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command successfully apprehended six individuals suspected of being drug kingpins and cultists during a raid on a notorious hideout in the Afaha Offiong community, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.

The operation, carried out under the directive of the State Commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayilara, followed credible intelligence reports about illicit activities in the area.

Addressing the press at the Command’s headquarters in Ikot Akpanabia, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Timfon John, detailed the operation’s success.

“Based on the intelligence at our disposal, we mobilized our operatives to the community. The swift action led to the arrest of six male suspects believed to be involved in cultism and drug trafficking,” ASP John explained.

The suspects, identified as Kufre Godwin Okon, Uko Monday Edet, Cyril Micheal, Gabriel Effiong, Joseph Effiong Okon, and Udofia Emmanuel Udofia, were found with two bags containing substances suspected to be Indian hemp, along with what is believed to be cocaine and various illicit concoctions.

ASP John assured the public that the investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being intensified to apprehend other members of the syndicate who are currently at large.

She also emphasized the Command’s unwavering commitment to ridding Akwa Ibom State of criminal elements.

This operation underscores the relentless efforts of the Akwa Ibom State Police in ensuring the safety and security of its residents.
