Slain farmers: Soldiers, civilians missing after fresh Borno terrorists ambush

Many soldiers and civilians have been declared missing following an ambush by terrorists on Tuesday around Baga area, Borno State.

The soldiers were reportedly ambushed while trying to recover corpses of 40 farmers killed by the terrorists on Saturday at Dumba in Baga, near Lake Chad.

Residents said out of 50 men, including members of local vigilantes, who went to recover the bodies, only one person had returned.

The returnee was said to be in a bad state and could not be debriefed immediately.

A security source said the troops came under heavy attack midway to Dumba after they had recovered and buried about 15 corpses.

“They saw corpses of the slain farmers littered on their way to Dumba, they buried 15, but later came under heavy terrorists’ gunfire when they were about to proceed to Dumba, Daily Trust quoted the source in its report
