Smoke out killers of 115 persons in Plateau, Tinubu tells security agents
President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday directed security agencies to immediately move into Plateau State communities and fish out killers of over 115 persons in the latest attack by bandits.
Gunmen suspected to be nomadic herders on Christmas Eve attacked Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi local government areas of Plateau State, killing at least 115 people and setting ablaze 17 communities.
The state governor, Caleb Mutfwang, confirmed the number of casualties and the destruction in an interview on Tuesday, adding that scores of residents were still missing.
Tinubu reacted to the attack in a statement by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, on Tuesday in Abuja.
The statement said Tinubu had directed security agencies to immediately move in and apprehend the culprits.
The President also directed the mobilisation of relief materials for surviving victims.
He condoled with the government and the people of Plateau and vowed that “the envoys of death, pain, and sorrow would not escape justice”.
