Spain Retain UEFA Women’s Nations League Title with 3-0 Win Over Germany

Spain secured a 3-0 victory over Germany in the second leg of the UEFA Women’s Nations League final, retaining their title thanks to brilliant second-half goals from Barcelona stars Claudia Pina and Vicky Lopez.

After a goalless first leg, Spain took control in Madrid following several missed chances early on. Pina opened the scoring in the 61st minute with a precise finish into the bottom corner after a slick one-two with Arsenal midfielder Mariona Caldentey. Seven minutes later, Lopez doubled the lead with a curling strike into the top corner after advancing into the penalty area. Pina sealed the win in the 74th minute with a sensational dipping shot following an interception near the halfway line.

Germany had an opportunity to take the lead late in the first half, but Nicole Anyomi missed a clear chance against goalkeeper Cata Coll.

The visitors had struggled to score in the first leg, missing all 19 attempts, while Spain dominated the opening period in the return leg. Esther Gonzalez and an unmarked Caldentey also spurned good opportunities early on.

Spain’s performance after the break proved decisive, earning a deserved victory despite Germany goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger getting hands on two of the strikes.

The Spanish side played without Ballon d’Or winner Aitana Bonmati, who is expected to miss five months following surgery on a broken leg sustained in national team training.

With the win, Spain have now claimed three of their last four major international finals, adding the 2025 Nations League title to their 2023 Women’s World Cup and 2024 Nations League successes.
