Suicide Blast at Pakistan Mosque Kills at Least 31, Injures 169

At least 31 people have been killed and 169 others injured after a suicide bombing ripped through a mosque in Pakistan, in one of the deadliest attacks in the country in recent months.

The explosion occurred during prayers when worshippers had gathered inside the mosque, causing widespread panic and chaos. Security officials said the attacker detonated explosives within the mosque compound, leading to heavy casualties, particularly among those closest to the blast.

Emergency responders rushed the wounded to nearby hospitals, with medical officials warning that the death toll could rise as several victims remain in critical condition. Hospitals in the area have been placed on high alert, while blood donation appeals were issued to the public.

Authorities quickly cordoned off the area as security forces launched an investigation into the attack. No group immediately claimed responsibility, but officials said the bombing bears the hallmarks of militant extremist violence, which has targeted religious and public spaces in the past.

Government officials strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a cowardly act of terror aimed at destabilising the country and sowing fear among civilians. They pledged that those responsible would be tracked down and brought to justice.

The attack has renewed concerns over Pakistan’s security situation, particularly the targeting of places of worship, and has prompted calls for tighter security measures at religious gatherings nationwide.
