A Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has ignored warning by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to leave the Fulani alone as the he stormed Igangan community Friday afternoon with his supporters and ordered the Fulani to vacate the area and the Yorubaland.
He was reportedly received by hundreds of youths at the Igangan Town Hall.
Makinde had on Wednesday in a state broadcast condemned the threat to evict the Fulani and warned those behind the threat to desist or be ready to face the wrath of the law.
Addressing the youths and other supporters, he said, “What is happening will not be limited to this place; we will drive out Fulani from entire Yorubaland. They want to be killing us. We will not accept this.”
Igboho was said to have insisted that Seriki should leave the town.
This, according to him, is because many people have linked Seriki to the insecurity in the area
Some youths were said to have made bonfires on the streets in the town while awaiting the arrival of Igboho.
There has been tension in Igangan and other parts of the Ibarapa area of Oyo State as the quit notice given by Igboho to herdsmen in the area expired Friday January 22.
The activist had stormed the Fulani settlement at Igangan last Friday accusing them of being behind the incessant killings, kidnappings and destruction of farms in the Ibarapa area and gave them seven days to leave or face forceful ejection.
