Some supporters of Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho, on Wednesday took to the streets of Ibadan, Oyo State, to protest his arrest and detention in Benin Republic.
Igboho, who was arrested at an airport in Cotonou on Monday night, is still being held by Beninise authorities.
The protesters who initially gathered in front of Igboho’s house in the Sooka area of Ibadan later marched to the streets such as Felele, Sanyo, and Challenge area, singing freedom songs for the activist’s release.
Some personnel of the Nigeria Police and State Security Services were seen in their patrol vehicles around the area, monitoring the protesters.
Protesters who spoke with journalists such as Yusuf Ajikobi, Oyedokun Abiodun, David Ajulo, and Azeez Suleiman appealed to the Government of the Republic of Benin and the Federal Government of Nigeria to release Igboho.
