Super Eagles beat Ghana Black Stars 2-1 in int’l friendly
Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Friday night defeated their West African rivals, Black Stars of Ghana, in an entertaining Marrakesh international friendly after goals from Cyriel Dessers and Ademola Lookman.
In the course of the game, the Nigerians had the clearest chances of the match and Ghana was conditioned by an expulsion in the second half.
The victory was recorded despite the absence of Victor Osimhen.
Rangers forward Cyriel Dessers netted a first-half penalty awarded for handball.
Ademola Lookman also fired home late off the bench after the Black Stars had been reduced to 10 men following the dismissal of Jerome Opoku.
Crystal Palace’s Jordan Ayew’s cool stoppage-time penalty after Bright Osayi-Samuel had brought down Antoine Semenyo gave Ghana a consolation goal in the entertaining showdown in Morocco.
Victory over their rivals will give Nigeria a lift after last month’s Africa Cup of Nations final defeat by hosts Ivory Coast, under interim coach and Super Eagles legend Finidi George.
