Super Eagles beat S’Leone 3-2, qualify for AFCON
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have qualified for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) even with one more game to play.
The three-time African champions picked the ticket after defeating Sierra Leone 3 -2 at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium in Monrovia, Liberia, on Sunday.
Victory Osimhen scored two goals in the first half.
But his brace was cancelled out five minutes before regulation time. Ihenacho however scored a winning goal during extra time to make the scoreline 3-2.
The victory thus earned the Super Eagles a qualification ticket for the next AFCON taking place 13 January – 11 February, 2024 in Cote d’Ivoire.
