Suspected bandits’ spiritualist arrested in Niger

Police have arrested a suspected spiritual consultant to some bandits in Niger, Nasarawa and Abuja.

Umar Samaila, 50, was arrested at his residence in Gussasu community in Bosso council of Niger State based on intelligence.

Samaila, during interrogation, said he advised some bandits to abduct some worshippers in a church at Buku village in the Abaji area of Abuja on Sunday.

However, the attack was thwarted by the police following some intelligence.

Samaila was arrested and the worshippers were spared the ordeal.

Umar reportedly admitted being not just a spiritual consultant but also a spiritual leader of most of the notorious bandits wreaking havoc in Niger, Nasarawa and Abuja.

Police spokesman Abiodun Wasiu said in his last phone conversation with the bandits, Samaila assured the bandits of the success of the operation.
