Suspected car snatchers arrested in Abuja, car, POS machine, lethal weapons recovered
Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have recovered a Toyota Corolla that was reportedly snatched at gunpoint on May 2, 2024, along the Kuje-Airport road.
Using digital reconstruction intelligence, the police tracked the vehicle to Ifego Guest Inn in Jabi, where it was found in the possession of one Michael Uke.
The suspect had altered the vehicle’s registration number to AGD 146 JP.
During the search, authorities found a POS machine, a knife, glass-dissolving chemicals, a military jungle hat, and the car’s original registration number among the suspect’s belongings.

A statement issued on Sunday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh said: “The operatives of the FCT police command on 17th August 2024, at about 12:00 p.m., in a swift response to a Toyota Corolla vehicle with REG NO: ABC 258 LD, reportedly snatched at gunpoint on 2nd May, 2024, along Kuje-airport road, and the same vehicle being sighted.
“While the investigation is still ongoing, the commissioner of police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, psc, mni, reiterates the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives and properties of residents of the FCT.
