A petrol tanker explosion reportedly killed no fewer than nine people on Christmas eve day in Boksburg, South Africa.
The incident which happened in the eastern city of Johannesburg also had scores of residents numbering about forty injured, Naija News understands.
Reports said that emergency services immediately attended to the scene to put the fire under control while casualties were evacuated.
The tanker, transporting liquefied petroleum gas, “got stuck under a bridge close to a hospital and houses.
“Firefighters were called to extinguish the flames. Unfortunately, the tanker exploded,” a spokesman for the emergency services in the region, William Ntladi told reporters.
