Teenage housewife kills three-year-old stepson
One Nguemo Ikyowe has allegedly killed her three year old stepson, Vanen Ikyowe, in Ginde village, Guma Local Government Area of Benue state.
The 17-year-old suspect has since been arrested by the the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, in the Middle Belt State.
She was paraded by the NSCDC at the Command’s headquarters in Makurdi on Thursday.
Parading the suspect, the State Commandant, Larai Bitrus disclosed that the woman was apprehended on September 12 for a case of culpable homicide.
According to her, the Command received a distress call from members of the public that one Nguemo had murdered a three year old boy and dumped his corpse in a river.

“Our men stationed at Ginde village swiftly moved to the scene and arrested the suspect who later confessed to the crime during interrogation.
“The suspect led officers who conducted a search and discovered the lifeless body of the boy and deposited it at a mortuary in Ginde village.
“The crime is against the state and so she will be handed over to the Nigerian Police Force for possible prosecution after their investigation,” Bitrus stated.
Answering questions from journalists, the suspect said she is the victim’s father’s second wife.
She explained that she went to the bush with her stepson to fetch firewood when a spirit came upon her and she murdered the boy.
