Gunmen have abducted a family of five at Ajowa Akoko, a community in the Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Ibrahim Olusa, a native of Daja Ajowa, his wife and three children were those kidnapped on Ajowa/Ayere highway.
They were said to be returning to Abuja after spending the Easter holiday in Ajowa Akoko.
The incident has heightened tension among the residents of the town.
Already, the kidnappers have reportedly contacted the family to demand N10 million as ransom before they can be released.
An ex-Chairman of Ajowa Akoko community council, Ajayi Bakare, confirmed the incident.
He said the rising cases of the kidnapping and robbery on the Ajowa/Ayere highway was due to the poor condition of the road.
Tee Leo lkoro, spokesperson for the state police command, said the matter had not been reported to the state police headquarters.
It will be recalled that in January, gunmen killed Amos Arijesuyo, deputy registrar of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Ondo State.
He was shot dead in his vehicle along Ilesha-Akure road.
