Three Immigration Officers Killed as Gunmen Attack NIS Checkpoint in Kebbi
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has condemned a deadly attack on its Bakin Ruwa checkpoint under the Tuga Border Patrol Formation in Kebbi State, where three personnel were killed and several operational assets destroyed during a coordinated night raid.
The assault occurred at about 10 p.m. on Thursday when unidentified gunmen launched a violent offensive on the facility, engaging Immigration officers in a fierce exchange.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Service Public Relations Officer, ACI Akinsola Akinlabi, said the Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, was deeply pained by the loss of the “gallant officers” who died in the line of duty. She extended the Service’s solidarity to the families and colleagues of the fallen operatives as they confront the tragic incident.

According to Akinlabi, the Comptroller General has ordered an immediate tactical response, including the deployment of reinforcements to the affected formation, enhanced collaboration with other security agencies, and intensified intelligence-gathering along the Tuga axis.
Border patrol operations in the corridor have also been strengthened to deter further attacks and restore full security control.
Reaffirming its commitment to defending Nigeria’s borders, the NIS said such acts of criminality would not deter its personnel from carrying out their statutory duties. The Service also urged the public to remain calm and continue cooperating with security agencies working to secure the nation.
