Three Nigerians arrested in Kenya over alleged cyberfraud
Kenyan authorities have arrested three Nigerian nationals for alleged involvement in a cross-border cyberfraud scheme. The suspects — Peter Chukwujekwu, Alazor Chukulute Sunday, and Nnalue Chiagozie Samwel — were apprehended during a coordinated multi-agency operation in Mwaliko Estate, Mwea Town.
Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), in a statement released on Wednesday, said the trio are “currently cooling their heels in custody as investigators dig deeper into their network, tracing possible links to cross-border cybercrime syndicates.”
The arrest followed reports from residents who raised alarm over suspicious movements and late-night activities at a rented apartment occupied by the men. Acting on the tip-off, operatives stormed the premises and allegedly uncovered an array of items used in digital fraud operations.

According to the DCI, officers recovered 21 mobile phones, 79 SIM cards, a Dell laptop, and several credit cards from various banks, all of which indicated “a well-oiled fraud network.”
Investigators further discovered that the suspects’ immigration documents had expired, and that they had no valid work permits, despite claiming to be “running an online business.”
The DCI said the men remain in custody as authorities expand the probe into possible connections with wider regional cybercrime operations.
