Three suspects arrested for rustling 132 rams in Niger State
Operatives of the Niger State Police Command have arrested three suspects for rustling 132 rams in the Mashegu Local Government Area of the state.
Spokesperson for the command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, made this known in a statement on Saturday.
He said the suspects confessed to having conspired and rustled the animals from two owners.
“On 14/03/2024 at about 0900hrs, based on information received, Police operatives attached to Zungeru Div with vigilante members arrested the following suspects; Mohammed Abdullahi Chumo 30 years of Ukoro, Kwara State; Aliyu Salihu 20yrs of Gwadabawa, Sokoto State and Arzika Ahmadu 25yrs of the same address,” the statement read.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to having conspired and rustled 132 rams from two victims who were grazing the rams around Manigi area of Mashegu LGA.
“Fortunately, one of the victims sighted a member of the gang, Chumo at Zungeru Market with six of the rams in an attempt to sell them, the victim raised an alarm, the suspect was arrested and led the Police team to Jimi village where other rams were kept, while Aliyu and Arzika were also arrested.
“The suspects have been transferred to the Crack squad unit for discrete investigation and diligent prosecution, as the rams were released to the rightful owner.”
