Tinubu Assures Nigerians of Victory Over Banditry, Terrorism

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to defeat banditry and terrorism, assuring Nigerians that security forces are fighting relentlessly to restore peace and stability across the country.

The President gave the assurance on Wednesday night at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, while receiving leaders of the Ogbia community of Bayelsa State, amid persistent security challenges in parts of the North-West, North-East and North-Central regions.

Tinubu said although the country faces multiple security threats, his government remains resolute, noting that terrorists and bandits are being arrested, prosecuted and neutralised through sustained military and security operations.

“Men and women of the armed forces are fighting very hard to bring peace and stability to the country, and I can guarantee you we will win,” the President said, stressing that the government would not relent in its efforts.

Beyond security, Tinubu pledged continued development of the Niger Delta, acknowledging years of neglect in the oil-producing region. He commended the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) under its Managing Director, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, for ongoing infrastructure and community-focused projects.

He cited interventions such as solar-powered street lighting, saying they had improved safety, extended business hours and enhanced community life.

“We have not done well in the past to cater for the goose that lays the golden egg, the Niger Delta. But now, we will move forward with progress, determination and constructive engagement,” Tinubu said.

The President also promised to address ecological challenges, particularly erosion, and pledged to review key infrastructure projects, including a proposed bridge described as vital to economic growth and regional development.

On the economy, Tinubu said Nigeria had emerged from a difficult phase, adding that the focus was now on ensuring that economic recovery translates into real benefits for ordinary Nigerians.

“When we took over, the economy was in a very difficult situation. Today, we are out of the tunnel of economic disaster. What remains is to ensure the people at the bottom feel the impact,” he said.

Tinubu also praised former President Goodluck Jonathan, an Ogbia indigene, describing him as a good leader and citizen deserving continued honour.

In response, leaders of the Ogbia community pledged political support for Tinubu ahead of 2027, applauding his appointment of Ogbuku as NDDC Managing Director.

Speaking for the delegation, Robert Enogha said the visit was to appreciate the President for what he described as visible development in the Niger Delta, declaring that the community stood firmly behind Tinubu.
