Tinubu off to Daura, may unveil ex-Borno governor as running mate

Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has travelled to Daura, the home town of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Tinubu’s trip is believed to be for the purpose of unveiling his running mate.

There are indications that Tinubu has settled for the former Governor of Borno State, Senator Kashim Shettima.

Shetima currently represents the Borno Central senatorial district in the National Assembly.

56 years old, Shetima has been with Tinubu over the campaign for his 2023 presidential ambition.

His choice seals all debate over Muslim-Muslim ticket.

The Christian Association of Nigeria and other faith-based bodies had argued against any of the parties for same faith by candidates and the running mates.

Governor of Kano State, Umar Ganduje, had hinted earlier that Tinubu had settled for a Muslim from the North as his running mate.

Tinubu is expected to present Shetima to the President in Daura today.
