Tinubu urged lawmakers to give the nominations “expeditious consideration,” citing the pressing need to bolster the nation’s security architecture.
The Senate has referred the request to the Committee of the Whole, with screening and confirmation hearings slated for next week.
The appointments come on the heels of a sweeping shake-up in the military hierarchy. General Oluyede replaces General Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff, while Major-General Undiendeye retains his role as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
Presidential aide Sunday Dare described the reshuffle as part of the administration’s broader strategy “to strengthen national security and enhance operational efficiency.”
The move signals Tinubu’s intent to recalibrate Nigeria’s defence apparatus amid persistent security challenges across the country.
