President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and their aides are projected to spend N12.2 billion on foreign and local travel in 2026, according to details of the State House budget estimates submitted under the 2026 Appropriation Bill currently before the National Assembly.
The breakdown of the proposal shows that the Presidency continues to prioritise international engagements, with foreign travel accounting for the largest share of travel-related spending, despite ongoing fiscal pressures and economic reforms.
For President Tinubu, a total of N7.014 billion was allocated for travel and transport. This includes N6.14 billion earmarked for foreign travel and logistics, while N873.89 million was set aside for local travel.
Similarly, the Vice President is expected to spend N1.732 billion on travel within the 2026 fiscal year, comprising N1.31 billion for international trips and N417.49 million for local movements.
In addition, a separate N3.433 billion was budgeted for Travels and Transport (General) under the State House Headquarters.
Further details of the budget reveal allocations of N179.01 million for the purchase of motor vehicles for the President, N375.19 million for food and catering supplies, N79.68 million for drugs and medical supplies, and N56.43 million for refreshments and meals.

Overall, the total allocation for the President’s office stood at N8.39 billion, including items not fully detailed, with capital expenditure accounting for N777.19 million.
For the Vice President, N171.03 million was budgeted for food and catering, N14.99 million for refreshments, and N21.8 million for honorarium and sitting allowances. Additional allocations included N28 million for welfare packages and N11.83 million for publicity and advertisement, bringing the Vice President’s total allocation to N2.64 billion, with capital expenditure estimated at N641.39 million.
The State House Headquarters received a total allocation of N43.20 billion for the 2026 fiscal year, comprising N2.64 billion for personnel costs, N10.10 billion for overhead expenses, and N30.49 billion for capital projects.
Among key capital allocations are N11.23 billion for the purchase of motor vehicles, N7 billion for the installation of solar power at the Presidential Villa, and N2.42 billion for wildlife conservation within the State House.
Other provisions include N2.12 billion for honorarium and sitting allowances, N2.56 billion for office furniture and fittings, N513.84 million for welfare packages, N3.84 billion for vehicle maintenance and spare parts, and N8.48 billion for the rehabilitation of office buildings. Rehabilitation of residential buildings was pegged at N44.21 million.
Additional allocations covered N371.80 million for library books and equipment, N12.19 million for sporting and gaming equipment, and N11.71 million for the construction and provision of office buildings.
