Tobi Amusan qualifies for 100m hurdles semis in 2024 Olympics

Tobi Amusan began her quest for a podium finish in the 100 metres women hurdles event by winning her heat in a time of 12.49s and qualifying for the semi-finals.

Amusan who is the current world record holder was quicker than USA’s Alaysha Johnson in 2nd with 12. 61s and Janeek Brown in 12.84s.

Meanwhile, Nigerian athlete, Favour Ofili, on Tuesday, finished sixth in the final of the women’s 200 metres at the 2024 Paris Olympics taking place in France.

The 21-year-old finished dipped 22.24 seconds to finish 6th behind Gabrielle Thomas of the United States, who took the title after clocking 21.83 seconds.

While Saint Lucia’s Julien Alfred took the silver medal with 22.08 seconds, and USA’s Brittany Brown completed the podium.

Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith and Daryll Neita finished in fourth and fifth, respectively.

Similarly, Blessing Oborududu lost her fight in the Freestyle 68KG third-place fight in the Wrestling event.

The Nigerian was beaten by Nonoka Ozaki in the Women’s Freestyle Wrestling 68kg bronze medal match.

Nigeria is yet to win a medal at this year’s Olympics.
