Tragedy as lightning strike kills 3 Imo

Tragedy struck in the Obidi community of Agwa, Oguta Local Government Area, Imo State, on Saturday evening when a lightning bolt killed three residents and seriously injured four others during a light rain shower.

Eyewitnesses say the storm began with mild rainfall, offering no indication of the deadly strike that would follow.

“It wasn’t a heavy downpour—just a drizzle. Then lightning suddenly struck. Three people died instantly and four others were badly injured. We’ve never seen anything like it here,” a local resident recounted.

The incident has sparked alarm across the community, with many expressing confusion over how such a violent event occurred under seemingly calm weather conditions.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement, but the event has prompted calls for emergency response and deeper investigation into unusual weather patterns in the area.
