Train crushes man to death at Oshodi, Lagos

A tragic incident occurred in the Mushin area of Lagos State on Monday, August 26, 2024, when a yet-to-be-identified man was fatally struck by a moving train.

The accident happened around 6 pm while the man was walking along the railway tracks near the Cappa area.

Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), confirmed the incident in a statement.

He stated that the victim was found dead at the scene, having sustained severe injuries from the collision with the train.

“In response to a distress alert regarding a train accident along the railway line opposite the LASEMA Response Base in Cappa at around 6 pm, the Agency activated its Eagle Response Team,” the statement read.

Upon arrival, the team discovered the lifeless body of an adult male who had been walking along the tracks. The impact of the train caused immediate death.

LASEMA’s response team has secured the deceased’s remains, which are now awaiting transfer to the morgue by the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit officials. Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
