Tribute for Ex-Barcelona star Luis Suarez Miramontes who dies at 88
Former Barcelona, Inter Milan and Spain star Luis Suarez Miramontes has died at the age of 88.
The legendary player is regarded as one of Barca’s all-time greats.
He was a midfielder for Barcelona, Inter Milan and Sampdoria during his playing career that ran from 1953 to 1973.
Suarez won two La Liga titles with Barcelona, and inspired Inter to two European Cup victories in 1964 and 1965.
He was a Barca player from 1954 to 1961; the first and only male Spanish player to win the Ballon D’Or to date.
Fondly called ‘Luisito’, he is considered one of the best players in Spanish football history, and he played a key role for Barca during the second half of the 1950s.
At international level, Suarez was also a European Championship winner with Spain in 1964.
Inter paid tribute on social media, saying: “A unique talent and a great Inter fan. The number 10 of Grande Inter who brought our colors to the roof of Italy, Europe and the world.”
