Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) under Sector 2 have successfully repelled a coordinated attack by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists near Koulfoua Island in the Lake Chad region, dealing a major blow to the insurgent groups.

The encounter reportedly took place along the banks of Koulfoua, where the terrorists attempted to launch a surprise offensive. However, the highly alert troops swiftly engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to retreat and leaving several casualties behind.

Lt.-Col. Osoba further revealed that the troops recovered nine AK -47 rifles, three boats and a large cache of ammunition from the criminals.

He explained that the ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists initiated the offensive in the early hours of Tuesday, 15 July 2025, attacking the MNJTF military base in Koulfoua Island.
