Troops rescue 34 women, children from Boko Haram captivity

Operatives of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have successfully rescued 34 women and children from the captivity of Boko Haram during a clearance operation in the Mazuri, Itsari, Mudu, and Maleri villages located on the fringes of southern Lake Chad in Nigeria.

This operation, part of the larger Operation Lake Sanity 2 under Task Force Wulgo, also resulted in the killing of a Boko Haram terrorist on June 15.

On June 17, three fighters from the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP), based in the Jabilaram camp on Lake Chad, surrendered to the vigilant troops of Task Force Wulgo. The fighters, Babakura Abubakar (20), Abacha Kyari (28), and Mohammad Adam (29), are currently undergoing interrogation for further action.

A statement released by MNJTF’s Chief Military Public Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, detailed an air operation conducted on June 9 in the Kollaram axis of Lake Chad. This operation successfully destroyed three suicide vehicle-borne IEDs, preventing a major terrorist attack.
