Troops rescue two abducted aid workers in Borno
Nigerian troops have rescued two aid workers abducted on April 26 in the Gamboru Ngala area of Borno State.
The rescued workers attached to the Family Health International (FHI360) were kidnapped along one of their colleagues last week.
It was gathered that the two aid workers were rescued during a gun battle between the troops of the 21-Armoured Brigade Bama and the terrorists in the axis of Banki, in Bama Local Government Area.
Sources told Zagazola Makama, a counter insurgency expert and security analyst in the Lake Chad region, that the victims jumped out of one of the vehicles of the terrorists and quickly identified themselves to the troops while one other worker ran into the bush amidst heavy shootings.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) recently said many aid workers had died; some injured or kidnapped in North-East.
